The Polished Finish

The polished surface is what gives zirconia ceramic its distinctive appearance. Light reflects cleanly from the deep black surface, producing a glossy finish that can appear darker and sharper than polished titanium or tungsten. The surface has a glassy feel with no noticeable texture.

Because zirconia ceramic sits around 8–8.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, the polished surface tends to keep its clarity longer than softer metals. At the same time, a polished finish shows contact marks more readily than a brushed surface, simply because the reflections make any change in the surface easier to see.

Zirconia Ceramic

Zirconia ceramic is black throughout the material rather than coloured only on the surface. The rings are lightweight compared with tungsten but feel more substantial on the finger than titanium. Ring Profiles and Styles

Court profiles have a rounded outer shape that feels traditional, while comfort fit interiors curve slightly inside the band to reduce pressure on the finger. Faceted designs break the reflections of the polished surface into angled planes, while patterned rings introduce visual detail across the band. The Ring Profiles guide has more information.

Width Range

Widths from 4mm to 8mm cover both slim and wider styles. A 4mm ring usually suits smaller hands, while 5mm can work for both men and women. The 6mm, 7mm and 8mm widths are more typical for men’s wedding rings. Because wider rings sit slightly tighter on the finger than narrow ones, sizing should be checked carefully. Design Details

Some rings incorporate additional design elements such as carbon fibre inlays or a tungsten inlay set into the ceramic band. Patterned designs include tramline and zigzag styles, while the spinner design uses a three-part construction where the outer band rotates around the inner ring. Sizing and Fit

Zirconia ceramic rings cannot be resized once made. Most rings are available from around P to Z+3, with some starting from J and extending to Z+11 depending on the design.
