Choosing a 7mm wedding ring

Materials

Titanium produces a light ring with a high strength-to-weight ratio, which many people prefer for daily wear. Tungsten carbide has a noticeably heavier feel and is often selected for its solid presence on the finger. Zirconia ceramic rings come in deep black tones with a smooth surface finish.

Zirconium develops its dark colour through heat treatment, leaving natural metallic highlights where the surface is machined back to reveal the natural grey zirconium. Cobalt has a bright white appearance and a weight between titanium and tungsten. Tantalum rings are dense with a naturally darker grey tone.

Ring profiles

Court, blended court and classic court shapes all use curved edges for a traditional profile, while flat rings create a straighter outline. Comfort fit interiors add a gentle inner curve so the ring passes more easily over the knuckle. Chamfered edges introduce a bevelled transition between the top surface and the sides, and ridged designs add visible structure to the band. Engraving

Because the band is wider, engraving tends to be clearer and more flexible than on narrow rings. We carry out laser engraving in house, including text engraving. Full details are explained in our engraving guide and available fonts are shown on the ring engraving fonts page.

Fit and sizing
