9mm Wide Rings

9mm wide rings sit at the extra-wide end of the wedding band scale. With a broad surface across the finger, they carry more visual weight than standard widths.

These rings are made in zirconium, tungsten and titanium, with one ring slightly narrower at 8.7mm. Finishes include polished and brushed surfaces. Some designs introduce centre stripes or double grooves cut into the band, while others combine natural polished edges or a sterling silver inlay to create contrast across the wider surface.

About 9mm wide rings

Materials

Black zirconium develops its dark colour through heat treatment, which forms an oxidised outer layer on the metal. This produces a deep black surface paired with natural polished edges.

Tungsten carbide is a dense metal well suited to wider bands. At this width the rings come in both polished and brushed finishes, with detailing such as centre stripes and double grooves cut into the surface.

Titanium offers a lighter feel on the hand despite the width. The titanium bands carry two sterling silver inlay strips, one running along each edge of the band near the chamfer.

For further detail on the properties of these metals, our material buyer’s guides explain how each behaves in jewellery.

Ring styles and features

Surface finishing varies between brushed and polished bands. The contrast between these two finishes changes how light reflects across a wider ring surface, giving each band a different visual character.

Profile shape is not always obvious from a product name, yet it plays an important role in how a wide band feels on the hand. Our ring profiles guide explains the different internal and external shapes used in wedding rings.

Engraving

At this width a large number of fonts can usually be engraved inside the ring. However, positioning the laser inside a 9mm band can be more difficult. Because the outside wall of the ring sits in the direct line of the laser, engraving often ends up slightly off-centre and closer to the reading edge. This is a normal outcome when engraving very wide rings.

Full details of the engraving process are covered in our engraving information guide. Available styles can be viewed on the ring engraving fonts page. If you are unsure whether a 9mm band will suit your hand, our ring width sizing guide explains how wider rings compare with standard widths.
